Introduction

Sri Valli Deivayannai sametha Sri Subramanyaya Namaha:

Arupadaiveedu meaning six sacred houses(veedu) There are many temples for lord Muruga in Bharat. (Murugu means handsome in Tamil litrature) These six temple and the places are specially showed divine actions and purposefulness to the world.
Sanskrit poet Kalidasa experesses very nicely in his kumarasambam about incarnation of Lord Muruga. Further more Nakeerar the Tamil poet has written predominantly in his Thirumurugatru Padai about Lord muruga's actions, that is his furriness, teachings, valorous battle his marriage, Love,   Appearance with energy of wisdom, and energy of mercy. That is Valli Deivayanai samedha Sri Subramanyaya Namaha: Further Nakeerar  has honored to each of these six temples and projected well to their importance to the universe.
All his  poems also revealed that all  these temples were well established during the sangam age.
Tolkappiyam, is the most ancient of the extant Sangam works, dated between the 3rd century BC and 5th century AD explines about Lord Muruga in a great manner.
Silapathikaram the anchient tamil literature 2000 years old in that book also gives references about these temples.
Many of those people  settlers in alien countries and devotees of Lord Muruga even now they are visiting to Thiruchentoor for Kandhasashti. It is one of the six importent temples.
I am presuming that the readers will be delighted to read the information of the temple and the legend.
Now we will look about the temple details and divine manifestation and reasons for.
Saroja Mani

Palamudir cholai

Legend is not much about this temple.
Lord Muruga is showing his grace to his devotees with his celestial consorts Valli and Daivayani in the main sanctum and sanctorum.
This Temple's spaciality is Valli is considered to be
Ichcha Sakthi, (power of will),Deivayani is considered to be Kriya Sakthi(power of Action)Lord Muruga him self is considered to be Gnana Sakthi (power of Knowledge)Lord's Spire is considered to be Maha Sakthi
This is the reason why there is no explanation about this temple... the place it self is called "Pala-Muthir-Cholai" meaning ripped fruit forest in Tamil literature. It is said the inner meaning is whoever comes to this temple to worship this Lord here,, 'they will get true` liberation from 'Aggnanam'(means unknowable or not knowing the reality). Hearer said the simple explanation about the name of the place 'raw fruit is likable by some one but the ripped one certainly every one will like',, Mind should be always young like a vast greenish forest. So to give knowledge to the world Lord Subramanya with his two consorts Valli and Deivayani and his spire incarnated in this place. This is a small and beautiful hillock temple which has been surrounded by green woods, shrubs and hills. It is said people in ancient time Lord Muruga was worshiped in a form of Spear in this place.
The famous legend is associated with this temple. Once Avvaiyar, a famous Tamil poet ,,, when she was very proud of her knowledge and came to this place... 'Muruga thought... make her to realize and to bestow her true wisdom',, , he was taking the form of a young cowherd..and was sitting on a black berry tree. (Naval Palam)As he saw the old Lady looks very tiered and asked her that "..She would like to eat some fruit"?... Avvaiyar replied to that cowherd boy and said " O my son I my self like a fruit where I am going to eat a fruit”
That divine cowherd politely compelled her to eat some fruit. Awwaiyar agreed to eat.
The cowherd asked her...."Patty do you like to have 'Sutta palam or sudadha palam'(Hot fruit or cold fruit) Surprisingly she requested him to give 'Sudatha Palam'
Ok the boy said "I shake the branch and you collect the sudatha Palam'... He shook the branch and the fruits were dropped down on the floor... she saw the fruit s took one and blow it with her mouth to clean the fruit.
As soon as the cowherd saw her action immediately asked her "..Patty Palam Sudutha?....(Is the fruit Hot?)(in this place that old lady says the beautiful ward in Tamil)She stunned and looked at the boy.. The cowherd asked the old lady " Patty enna appidy Parkirai"..
She replayed "Karungali Kattaiku valaiyadha Nan Intha Valaitthandukku Vallinduvitade endru Parkiren".. (meaning The thick wood could not break me but this Banana Stem easly broken me) "Katradhu Kaiman alavu Kalladhadu Kadal alavu"
Once she realized her mistake Lord Muruga appeared in front of her and blessed her and given salvation
that tree is worshiped even today.

Thiruparankundram

 This  temple has two legends:
The ancient history "Satya Giri Mahatmiam" says that the King Harichandra worshiped Lord Siva from this hillock and got boon eternal wisdom. The king had very high and deep devotion on Lord Satya Giri Nathar. So, The king Haricchanra  wished to constructed a temple to Lord Siva. Therefore he built the temple with all corridors, walls,  the entrance tower, and other towers  and steps in 8th century for Lord Satya Giri Nadhar.
Later during the reign of Nayakars of Madurai 1559-1736 AD. The temple was beautified with majestic towers, Massive and extensive the front corridor (Muga-Mandapam)with 48 ornate pillars carved built by King Nayakkar.
The legend says that Lord Muruga after he defeated the demon brothers followed by with his troops and  Indradhi Devas to this Thiruparangundram temple.
This legend take us to learn about Devayani and Valli :
Once Lord Subrahmanya went at Kanda Verpu. At that time the Amirthavalli and Sundaravalli the two daughters of Sri Maha Vishnu happened to see Lord Muruga and the both were decided to marry Lord Muruga. So they went to Saravana poigai of Satyagiri and commenced penance for their cherished desire and did deep penance without food and all the time praying of lord. But Sundaravalli was praying to the lord only during the penance time.
Lord Muruga happily pleased their prayer and penance appear in front of them and gave boon to Amirthavalli that.. "She will born and brought up By Indira as his daughter and he will Marry her when the time comes, Sundaravalli also got the similar kind of boon and as she will born to sage Siva Muni and brought up by Nambirajan in a hunters family and he will marry her in time.
As the boon Amirthavalli born and brought up by Indira and Named Deivayanni The same way Sundaravalli also born in the sage and brought up by Nambirajan Named Valli.
Now we move to Parankundram for Deivayani's marriage
When Lord Subrahmanya defeated Surapadma was at Tiruchendur, on his way, he came to this hillock followed by all the gods(devas) and heavenly beings whom he had released from Surapadma.
In the mean time once  sage parashara's sons six people cursed by him to be as six fishes and lived in that  saravana poigai.
These six fishes prayed to Subramanya to get rid of the curse.
Once they got Lord's dharshan they  relieved from their curse. Happly those hermits greeted Lord Subrahmanya and did prayers and they requested Lord Muruga Constantly to stay there itself. On the hermits request Lord Muruga happily accepted and stayed. Then the hermits called Viswakarma and requested him, to construct a beautiful abode on the hillock for Lord subramanya.  Accordingly visvakarma build a beautiful abode to the Lord. All the gods also stayed there as sage's prayer.
In the meantime Indira went to 'Kailash' to meet Lord Siva and Parvathi to propose for his daughter's marriage with Lord muruga of his gratitude for created of lord's energy to relieving him and the other gods (devas) from the the demon Surapadman... The Lord and goddess were very happy and agreed Indira's proposal and blessed him. 'Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Indira expressed his wishes to marry his daughter Deivayani to Lord Muruga, hence he requested them to be present for the marriage.
All arrangements for the marriage. The marriage was performed at the Tirupparankunram Temple. All the devas, Siva and Parvati, Vishnu amd Lakshmi, Brahma, and Sarasvathi attended the marriage and blessed Subrahmanya and Devayanai. Since then, the temple has become a very famous abode of Subrahmanyam.

Thiruchenture

 Lord Muruga,s incarnation
The Hindu religion has a vast canon of Puranas, Vedas, and Agamas including Upanishads The gods and demons were rivals and each had resort to the perceptive powers of the planets. Thus Jupiter (Brahaspathy) and Venus (Sukra) fought by taking sides with these rivals,The Jupiter is taken gods guru and the Venus is demons guru. This two of the celestial bodies , (these two planets) influenced the minds and bodies of these two races.
There were three demon brothers... called Soorapadman, Tharakasuran, and Simhasuran...these three were sage Kashyapa's sons. Their mother was called Maya was a Asura she lovingly had won the heart of Kashyapa and begot these sons through him. 'When Kashyapa preferred to teach them the principles of 'dharma, ahimsa and all good ethics... But Maya the sages wife taught them and incited hymn to conquer the gods all positions, so as the power of hymns they brought up as a demonic nature. In due courses they won devas and they became the ruler of the all devalogam and all devas imprisoned.
All devas duties regulated by them each one should obey them. they could not bare the trouble from them so Lord Indira went to Vishnu for their rescue but Vishnu could do nothing hence Vishnu told Indira to go and appeal to Lord Siva.. accordingly Indira went to Kailash accompanied with Lord Vishnu and Indira appealed to Lord Siva for their rescue from the demons.....Lord Siva told to Indira that when Siva was given the boon to the demons that any power of the world would not kill them except his own power', so Lord Siva entered yogic trance (Samadhi) and opened his third eye and out of it came a six rays of luminously bright light and received them by Agni(the fire god) and diverted into a Marshy lake....called "Saravana the "forest of reeds, where each ray turned out to be a child. Hence we hear of the six syllables "Sa-ra-va-na--bha-va-" born in the forest of reeds. These six children brought up and taken care by six maidens called "Karthikai Pengal"(name of the maiden) later goddess Parvathi embarrassed and gathered them as one ,,,, so the six children became as one body with six heads henceforth he is called "Shanmuga".(six faces)
At last the time came to destroy the demon brothers and rescue the gods....Lord Siva said to muruga to go to soorapadman's place and put down the demon brothers. Hearing this devi Parvathi gave to subramanya the power full spear(Vel) and said that it could track the enemy wherever they are hidden kill them and return back to him. Lord Siva also created a Gana named "Verabagu" the specified character and his brothers for accompany to Muruga and blessed them and sent them off to fight with the enemies demon brothers.
After reaching the war field Lord muruga sent Veerabagu as a messenger to the demon soorapadman......perhapes he might surender to him or meet Lord muruga in the war field. The bad nature of the demon arrogantly did not agree to leave the gods and to surrender to the Lord..... Muruga heard Veerabagu and as his advice first he destroyed the mountain crowncha which was the place Tharagasura ( soorapadman's brother)lived...as soon as soorapadman heard the news of the destruction of his brother by Lord Muruga... got very angry and sent all his armies headed by his brother, son, and relatives one by one but all were defeated by Lord Muruga... at last Soorapadman entered to war field to fight with Lord but he could not withstand... but he hid himself finally on sixth day Lord muruga prayed his mother Parvathi and hurled his spear on demon Soorapadman was caught and he surredred to Lord Muruga and begged for divine mercy due to Lord's mercy he became as a mango tree... the spear pierced the tree only to split into two parts he transformed one part as a peacock another half became as a rooster the peacock became as his mount the rooster symbol of his flag.
This is the reason why all Muruga's temple especially in Theruchendure celebrating the festival of Shasti is the popular one.
Tiruchendur Murugan Temple The famous seashore temple of Lord Subramanya is situated in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) District of Tamil Nadu. Tiruchendur temple is believed to be a commemoration of Lord muruga's victory over Surapadman
Nali Kinaru (the small well) Any visit to the temple will not be complete without having bath from Nazhi Kinaru. The Nazhi Kinaru is a rare natural phenomenon where there is a 14 sq.ft well and inside this well is a small 1 sq.ft well. water in the small well is clear and sweet-tasting. According to the legend Lord Shanmukha's troops were thirsty and Shanmukha planted his spear or Vel at this spot and gushed fresh water from the salty water well.
History of Tiruchendur The magnificent temple over the course of nearly 1,000 years has grown from its original modest structure through many additions made by Pandya and Chera kings, and various supporters .
'Tiruchendur' means a sacred and prosperous town of victory. The temple tower is on the West instead of the East as is traditional due to the sea. The massive structure is nine storied.. high and stands at 137 feet. The tower was constructed roughly 300 years ago. The sculptures on the tower chronicles interesting events. For instance, there are scenes from the life of Manikkavachakar in the ninth story, a huge bell was fixed by one Mr. Eden, probably the Collector of Tirunelveli from 1832 to 1839. The ringing of the bell indicated the hours of the day
In the 17th century AD, Tiruchendur temple was occupied by the Dutch for few years and they even took off some of the idols from the temple. Legend has it that the Arumuga Peruman idol was carried away in their ship. There was a sudden storm and the Dutch grew afraid and threw the idol into the sea. Vadamalaiyappa Pillai, an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga saw a vision of the idol's position in his dream. Immediately, he and several other devotees rushed to the spot where as exactly who saw in the dream a lemon was floating and eagle was flying over the spot. They dived into the sea and recovered the statue.
The temple was originally constructed on the sandstone reefs of the beach, but due to corrosion by the sea the structure forcibly into bad condition.. In early 1900s a monk Names Mouna Swami took up the renovation work. This was followed by others over a course of 72 years and the three corridors were constructed a new in black granite stone.
SANCTUM SANCTORUM : The main deity at Tiruchendur has four arms holding a rudhraksha malai and he has no spear in his hand, as he is known to be worshiping Siva Lingam. The pandiya kings ruled Madurai endowed lot of wealth to this temple construction. The dynasty that served includes Ugira Pandiyan, Marravarman and Vikrama Pandian. The heirs of Veerapandiya Kattobomman worshiped at the Tiruchendur Shanmugar swamy sannithi, the sanctum that is still available as evidence.

Legend Once Sage Naradha, went to kailash to have siva parvathi dharshan and after their dharshan he offered a divinely mango fruit to lord Siva and said that fruit full of wisdom he got it in Indra's court(saba)hence he brought there to offer him.
Lord understood about sage's visit to kailash and told him that, this fruit should be with his consort parvathi instead of himself so gave it to her. Presuming the aim of Naradha's visit to their abord and the fruit.. Parvathi said Instead of with me this fruit will be best to with their children.
When Lord Siva cut half the fruit Naradha interupted and said" This fruit of wisdom should not be cut to pieces....."
Accepted to Naradha's statement.. Lord Siva told his children (Lord Muruga and Ganapathy) "who ever first completes circumventing the earth are alone entailed to get the fruit....."Agreeing to the challenge Lord Muruga mounted his peacock and went around the earth.
Watching all.. Lard Ganapathy said the literal meaning circumvent of earth is going round of parents..." he went around his parent thrice and won the challenged divine fruit of wisdom..".
Lord Muruga landed the divine court and came to know that Lord Ganapathy won the fruit...he got very angry and went to the top of hill as a hermit.
nobody could convince him at last Awvayar the tamil poet went to the hill convinced him" you are yourself is a wisdom you are a fruit (palam ne)you no need to have a fruit she said some how Muruga convinced at that time Lord Siva and parvathi appeared in front of Muruga and said "you furiously came and stood on the hill top hence fourth wherever your abode in this world those will be a hill more you have come and stand with anger because of a bruit this place will be called Palani...
